Tiny sweet bomb that will quench your thirst (Bangkok)

When I was walking back to MRT from my exhausted China Town exploration few years ago. I passed by an old school restaurant with a huge shop name of Singapore, and that caught my immediate attention. I was wondering are they selling any Singapore food, and turn out they are selling a traditional Thai dessert called Lod Chong (Similar to our Cendol). Armed with my TS6 and I bravely walked in to try out this cold dessert, even my weak tummy is really weak for unclean ice/water.

The serving size is pretty small and serving in a small glass and that explain why it was only 20Bht per glass serving. They first scope up a scope of green short noodle which looks like mouse tail with coconut milk, then they added some diced jack fruit and top with some crushed ice before they serve it to you table.

This tiny little dessert turned out to be my to eat every time I go to China Town to uncover some hidden gem. When I chew on green noodle, I found out the noodle has a little translucent green when compare to our cendol’s rice noodle solid green. It turn out they are made of tapioca with natural pandan leave colouring, hence the bite is really springy bouncy chewy and dose not stick to teeth.  The diced jack fruit is crunchy and chewy too, and the coconut milk is fragrance and aromatic. A spoonful of green noodle, coconut milk and diced jack fruit in your mouth will create a rave party when you slowly chew and bite on it. Slowly enjoy the rave party as you chew, let all the aromatic fragrance natural sweetness linger in your mouth for a while before your sallow them all.

Lastly, My recent trip back there for their dessert had saw them incresed the price from 20 Bht to 22 Bht. And for the shop name, I have no idea why they name it Singapore Lod Chong and I asked a couple of Thai friends and they have no answer too. Tried Googling and no result too. But nevertheless, this is one little delicious cold dessert you should eat, wither before you hit China Town from MRT Hua Lamphong or leaving China Town.
