The food centre opposite Bugis Village is always very crowd all day as it is just below some HDB flat (public housing) and near to Bugis Junction too, and the food centre has vast variety of food cater to all kind of hungry soul. Within the food centre has a little humble hawker stall serving up some variety of yummy fried stuff like banana, sweet potato, tapioca, green bean patty, and even durian ball.
Most of the fritter batter crust unable to remain crispy after left in open for some time, but this stall’s fritter batter crust is able to remain its crispiness after left in open for some time. I tried almost everything and I like most of them especially so the fried durian ball. When you bite through the crispy batter of durian ball, the warm and mild sweetness of creamy durian just ooze into your mouth. Couple with crispy golden crust, warmness of creamy oozing durian, it is a gifted heavenly recipe. The crispy golden crust fried banana fritter is soft and fluffy inside and does’t stick to your teeth with natural sweetness, while the sweet potato has the solid soft bite with the right sweetness. I love their green bean patty as it doesn’t has the loose bite like some other will fall apart when you bite, the green bean patty just hold it well like cement but is soft, chewy and tender.
Spoke with the owner a little to find out how he can retain the crispiness and he remain tight lip on his secret, but he revealed a local 5 star hotel chef trying to fish out the recipe but unsuccessful.
In my opinion, they are on my list for one of the best Goreng Pisang I had tried so far in Singapore.
