Few years ago on a Sunday morning in 2010, I was walking along Silom road to explore the area and saw this old school damn damn old school bakery. Was so hungry and I bought a few egg custard bun to fill my empty stomach, and that fateful morning breakfast from this bakery make me keep going back for more every time i visit Bangkok.
And in 2013, her son took over the business and grow this one of the oldest bakery to have more variety. They sell many variety of bread and custard bun and mostly can finish in 3 bites. The egg Custard bun and Kaya bun is their most famous.
The filling is much more than whatever bread you have in Singapore. When you hold one in your hand, you can feel the weight and know the feeling is really huge inside.
The Egg custard bun, the bread is really soft and smooth on the outside and creamy smooth ion the inside. The creamy egg just ooz out when you take the 1st bite and you can smell the aroma of the egg and the taste shown they take no short cut in cutting down the amount of egg inside each bun.
The kaya bun, the creamy kaya is very fragrance when you tear the bun into half. And the filling is so huge it will spill onto your palm if your mouth is not quick enough. The kaya is really very creamy and smooth like silk.
So… are you drooling now? Hehe.
